Boron Will Drop Varsity Football
Officials at Boron High have decided to drop the school’s varsity football program for the 2002 season because of a lack of participation.
Boron, which finished 1-9 last year, had only 11 players out for the varsity team this season. Coach Todd Fink said the team will play a junior varsity schedule.
Four years ago, Boron defeated Redlands Arrowhead Christian, 21-6, in the Southern Section Division XII championship game. Two years ago, the Bobcats reached the quarterfinals of the playoffs after winning the Desert Mountain League title.
