Re “Stuck With a Poor Education When Pro Dreams Evaporate,” by Robert Sloan Jr., Commentary, Aug. 26: Athletes receive many perks, one of which is usually to be able to register for classes before anyone else. They have first choice for the classes and times that fit their busy athletic and partying schedules.
If they were actually interested in their own education, nongraduation would not be a problem. Sloan states that athletes learn discipline; clearly that is not the case.
