Man Held After Chase Ends in Crash; Child OK
A suspected narcotics violator led Anaheim police on a chase Tuesday with his girlfriend’s 18-month-old daughter in the car with him, authorities said.
Christopher Finley, 28, of Fullerton was arrested after crashing his vehicle near Brookhurst Road and Valencia Drive in Fullerton. He suffered a minor head injury but the child was unhurt, officials said. “As soon as the pursuit ended, police got her out of the car,” said Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim Police Department.
The chase began about 2:15 p.m. near Brookhurst Street and Orange Avenue in Anaheim when narcotics investigators tried to pull the man over. Instead of stopping, he fled at speeds up to 110 mph in his black four-door Pontiac Grand Am, authorities said.
As soon as they saw the baby in the car, Martinez said, police backed off. A short time later, Finley’s car collided with another vehicle. The driver of that car, Martinez said, suffered injuries to her shoulder but was not hospitalized.
