Billy Gibbons, Fullerton: Threw a one-hitter and struck out 14 in a 9-0 victory over Ramona in the first round of the Norco tournament.

Daniel Perales and Tim Stewart, Santa Ana Mater Dei: Perales went four for five, including a home run and four RBIs, and Stewart hit two homers and drove in four in the No. 6 Monarchs’ 15-2 win over La Puente Bishop Amat.

SOFTBALL

Eli Murillo and Jennifer Perez, Garfield: Each hit a grand slam in a 21-1 victory over Roosevelt. Murillo went five for six with six RBIs and Perez went four for four with five RBIs.

Kimi Wong, Goleta Dos Pueblos: Struck out 11 and allowed only three hits in 2-1 victory over No. 5 Simi Valley.

TRACK AND FIELD

Manuel Ruiz, North Hills Monroe: The two-time City Section 3,200-meter champion won the 800 and 1,600 in a dual meet against Van Nuys.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Mike Hernandez, Whittier: Had 24 kills and 10 blocks in a 15-6, 15-12, 11-15, 15-3 Del Rio League victory over California.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Jon Greenberg, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake: Clinched a 10-8 victory for the No. 2 Wolverines over Beverly Hills when he defeated Ariel Hausman, 7-5.

BOYS’ GOLF

Marcus Sostak, Costa Mesa Estancia: Shot a two-under-par 33 at Costa Mesa Country Club to win medalist honors.
