Words Aren’t Needed for Railroad Safety
Re “International Symbols Beat Warnings -- in Any Language,” Nov. 30:
Regarding the letter from Paul Motzenbecker Jr. and his logic for having symbols instead of any language for road and train signs, I submit that train tracks and guardrails are about the ultimate in symbology.
Am I supposed to believe that if the sign said in English, “Watch Out for Train” that a non-English-speaking person would just proceed across the tracks?
