Cerritos, Thomas Score to Lift Dallas

Ron Cerritos and Shaver Thomas scored early goals, and the Dallas Burn held off the New England Revolution, 2-1, Wednesday night in a Major League Soccer game attended by 10,361 at Foxboro, Mass.

It was Thomas’ first MLS goal.

New England (5-4-6) got a goal by Joe-Max Moore in the final minute of the first half.

The Burn (3-8-4) ended a four-game skid and a six-game road winless streak.

In WUSA games:

Atlanta 1, Philadelphia 0 -- Conny Pohlers scored in the 31st minute in front of 6,587 at Villanova, Pa., and Briana Scurry got her league-leading sixth shutout.

Scurry got her league-leading eighth victory and the Beat (9-3-4) won its third consecutive game. The Charge (3-9-4) lost its third in a row.

San Diego 2, Washington 1 -- Christine Latham scored in the 23rd minute and Julie Fleeting scored in the 35th to lead the host Spirit (6-4-6) in front of 6,733.

Sandra Minnert’s goal for the Freedom (6-6-3) came in the 78th minute.
