Rookie Jesse Foppert struck out a career-high eight batters and added an RBI triple for his first major league hit, leading the San Francisco Giants over the Colorado Rockies, 2-1, on Saturday night at San Francisco.

The Giants won their fourth consecutive game to start a 12-game homestand, the team’s longest winning streak since getting six consecutive victories from May 3-9. The Rockies have dropped two in a row to the defending NL champions after a five-game winning streak.

Foppert (3-4) had not won in three previous starts, his last victory coming May 9 at Atlanta.

The Rockies have scored at least one run in 82 consecutive games, the best current streak in baseball.

New York 4, Atlanta 2 -- Jae Seo pitched into the ninth inning to win for the first time in more than six weeks and Tsuyoshi Shinjo hit a two-run double to lead the Mets at New York.

The Mets also kept the Braves from breaking the NL record for homers in a month. The Braves’ 55 home runs in May had tied the New York Giants (July 1947) and St. Louis Cardinals (April 2000) for most in any month.

Florida 3, Cincinnati 2 -- Dontrelle Willis pitched seven strong innings and hit his first major league home run, leading the Marlins at Miami. Willis (3-1) gave up one run and five hits and struck out eight. Willis also came through at the plate, delivering a solo home run off Danny Graves (3-4) to break a 1-1 tie in the fifth.

San Diego 8, Arizona 7 -- Pinch-hitter Lou Merloni drove in the go-ahead run in a two-run eighth inning with a sacrifice fly, lifting the Padres at San Diego.

Montreal at Philadelphia, ppd. -- The game between the Expos and Phillies was postponed because of rain and will be made up today as part of a doubleheader.
