A Reality Show for ‘Music

Share

Rushed into the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies after an easy win in her debut at Laurel, Forest Music returns in a much more realistic spot in today’s $100,000 Valley Stream at Aqueduct.

Owned by Michael Gill and trained by Mark Shuman, the 2-year-old Unbridled’s Song filly beat maidens by 8 1/2 lengths in fast time (1:08 2/5) in her bow Oct. 8, and this performance actually left some people thinking she had a chance in the Breeders’ Cup.

Only 7-1 in the Breeders’ Cup field of 14, Forest Music set the pace, then faded. She finished last, 42 lengths behind winner Halfbridled.

In the Valley Stream, a Grade III at six furlongs, Forest Music, who was purchased for $325,000 this year, will break from the outside in the field of nine and will be ridden by Edgar Prado.

Race of the day: Quero Quero, who has been idle since beating Atlantic Ocean in the Honeymoon Breeders’ Cup Handicap on June 7, will meet nine other 3-year-old fillies in the inaugural running of the $70,000 Audrey Skirball-Kenis at Hollywood Park. Other contenders in the 1 1/8-mile turf race include Fencelineneighbor, Katdogawn and Shezsospiritual.

One for the road: Bombay Lad is most comfortable on the turf, and he’s meeting a soft field in today’s fifth at Churchill Downs. The 3-year-old Go For Gin gelding also gets a significant jockey change to Pat Day in the $46,000 allowance at 1 1/16 miles. Bombay Lad can win for the second time in four tries on the lawn for owner Alex Campbell and trainer Alison Register.

Exotically speaking: A pick three singling Boston Shuttle in the seventh, Quero Quero, Katdogawn, Shezsospiritual and Fencelineneighbor in the eighth and Amedeo, Miz Roadway and Seattle Sloop in the ninth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/26. Money: Previous day/meet total: $10.40/$128.40. Total money bet: $150.
