* Steve Martlaro, La Puente Bishop Amat: Threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts, and Eric Eichohor singled in Ryan Dowell in the second inning for the host Lancers in a 3-2 Serra League upset of No. 7 Santa Margarita.

* Adam Ching, Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills: Pitched a five-hitter and drove in two runs with two doubles for the visiting Mustangs in a 6-1 South Coast League upset of No. 15 San Clemente.

* Steve Taylor, San Pedro: Pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and had a home run, a double and two runs batted in for the Pirates in a 6-0 first-round victory over host Newport Harbor in the Newport Harbor tournament.

* Katie Varchetto, Anaheim Canyon: Had a run-scoring triple with two outs in the fourth inning for the host No. 11 Comanches in a 1-0 pool-play victory over No. 2 Norco in the Santa Ana Foothill tournament.

* Brianna Santos, Santa Ana Mater Dei: Threw a two-hitter, striking out seven, and Kristen Pocock singled in Tonye McCorckle in the fourth inning for the fourth-ranked Monarchs in a 1-0 nonleague victory at No. 24 Camarillo.

* Jessica Alvarez and Christie Crowell, Glendora: Alvarez pitched a three-hitter and Crowell had two doubles and scored one run for the Tartans in a 3-0 upset of Placentia El Dorado in the third-place game of the Covina Charter Oak tournament.

TRACK AND FIELD

* Gayle Hunter, Riverside North: Won the long jump at 19 feet 5, the triple jump at 41-1 1/4 and the 100 high hurdles in 14.19 seconds for the No. 3-ranked Huskies in the Meet of Champions at Mobile, Ala.
