Man, 28, Shot in Moorpark
A 28-year-old Moorpark man was shot in the chest Friday during a dispute with another man, Ventura County sheriff’s officials said.
Miguel Rivera was shot shortly after 1 p.m. at a ranch in the 1200 block of Tierra Rejada Road in Moorpark after getting into an argument with Anastasio Coronado, 57, also of Moorpark, authorities said. Rivera was treated at a local hospital and is expected to recover.
Coronado pulled a handgun from his pants pocket and pointed it at Rivera, said Capt. F. O’Hanlon of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Rivera tried to push the barrel away when the gun discharged, authorities said.
Coronado fled in a red convertible, but deputies stopped him a short time later at Tierra Rejada Road and Miller Parkway. He was taken into custody without incident and will be booked into Ventura County Jail for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, O’Hanlon said.
