SUV Crash Near Border Leaves 1 Dead, 11 Injured

A sport utility vehicle carrying a dozen suspected illegal immigrants crashed near the Mexican border Saturday, killing one woman and injuring 11 other people, the California Highway Patrol said.
The identity of the dead woman and the conditions of the injured were not immediately available. Six people were hurled from the vehicle when it skidded down an embankment on Interstate 8 and flipped, said Officer Brian Pennings.
