The real winners
Thanks for the story about the “crying games” (“Bring on the Bathos,” by Mary McNamara, Aug. 8). I personally can’t wait for the back story because that’s the best way I can relate to mega sports competition. I couldn’t care less who wins, so long as they’re healthy, not addicted and reasonably moral. Give me the best of the human endeavor rather than the noted variety of lust, intrigue, humorless greed and perceptible arrogance of the richly moneyed sports.
