BOYS’ BASKETBALL

* Tyre Thompson and Jervaughn Johnson, Compton Centennial: Thompson scored 30 points, including seven in overtime, as the Apaches, ranked No. 12 in the Southland by The Times, defeated Woodside, 71-62, in the semifinals of the Lynwood tournament. The defending tournament-champion Apaches (9-2) were playing their third game without injured point guard Jesse Woodard, but Johnson had 18 points and eight rebounds in his absence.

* Marcus Johnson and Ahmaad Cook, Westchester: Johnson had 20 points, and Cook had 11 as the Comets (6-1), ranked No. 3 in the Southland by The Times, beat Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha, 63-54, in a National Division semifinal game of the Houston tournament. Westchester faces Middle Village (N.Y.) Christ the King in the championship game tonight.

* Joe Ford, North Hollywood Campbell Hall: Was 10 for 10 from the free-throw line and finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the No. 19 Vikings in a 70-62 semifinal victory over Covington (Ky.) Holy Cross in the Daytona Beach (Fla.) tournament.

* Jamie McGee, Newport Beach Sage Hill: Was 13 for 16 from the field, including six for six on three-point shots, as he finished with a career-high 34 points in a 62-43 victory over Los Angeles Pilgrim in the Long Beach St. Anthony tournament.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

* Lyneeka Boyd, Etiwanda: Had 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Eagles took a 29-12 halftime lead en route to a 52-43 victory over Mission Hills Alemany in the Ayala tournament.

BOYS’ SOCCER

* Tony Beltran, Claremont: Had two goals to help the Wolfpack (7-4-0) erase a 3-1 halftime deficit and tie Pomona Garey, 3-3, and then converted his team’s first penalty as Claremont advanced with a 5-3 shootout in the Upland tournament.
