St. Bonaventure Scores Again as Lambert Signs With the Irish

For the third consecutive year, Ventura St. Bonaventure High has produced a football player for a major-college program.

Defensive back Terrail Lambert signed Wednesday with Notre Dame, following in the footsteps of receiver Whitney Lewis, who chose USC last year, and running back Lorenzo Booker, who picked Florida State in 2002.

Culver City had five players sign, led by receiver Michael Bumpus, who had committed to USC but signed with Washington State. Other Culver City signees: receiver Jaison Williams to Oregon, defensive back Darrious Ross to Utah, defensive back Ashton Lee to Portland State, running back Armon Delauney to Weber State.

Long Beach Poly had nine signees, headed by receiver Derrick Jones, who chose USC. Other Poly signees: safety Rodney Van and cornerback Byron Velega to UCLA, linebacker Jeremiah Toloumu to Northern Arizona, running back Anthony Baker and cornerback Kevin Davis to Sacramento State, lineman Jonathan Tu’ua to San Diego State, tight end Julian Hawkins to Boiste State and lineman Marcis Fennell to Idaho.

Westlake Village Westlake, the Southern Section Division IV champion, had nine players accept scholarships.
