Two Suspects Critically Wounded by Deputies
Sheriff’s deputies shot and critically wounded two men outside a grocery and liquor store Monday evening when one of the men pointed a handgun, Deputy Scott Butler said.
The incident began when deputies were called to a Compton home at about 8 p.m. because of an argument between a father and son. Arriving deputies were told that the son had left and was armed, Butler said.
About seven minutes later, at Long Beach Boulevard and Pine Street, deputies spotted the car they were looking for, Butler said, with three men inside.
As deputies were moving in to arrest the men, one suspect pointed a handgun and several deputies opened fire.
One man was arrested and two were hospitalized. Their names weren’t released.
