Authorities were searching Friday night for a man and a woman suspected of snatching a 12-year-old girl from her Long Beach home.

The California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert for a 1993 gold Lexus, license plate 3DGK844.

At 5:15 p.m., Tony Rich had appeared at the home of the girl’s mother and become “violent,” Long Beach Police Sgt. Paul LeBaron said.

Rich then took the child and drove off, LeBaron said.

“We’re not sure what the relationship between the suspect and the girl is, but we think the suspect knows the mother,” he said. “This appears to be part of a long-standing dispute or argument between the mother and the suspect. The mother might be a witness in a criminal case against the suspect, and this is some form of retaliation.”

Police said the girl, Selina Bruno, is thin and 5 feet 2 with long brown hair.

She was wearing a Scooby-Doo T-shirt, jeans and dark flip-flops, police said.

Rich, 41, was described as white, 160 pounds and 5 feet 9.

Police identified the woman in the car as Julie Dennis, 35. Police described her as 5 feet 7 and 200 pounds.
