Chaminade Beats Plouffe, Crespi

Right-hander Trevor Plouffe (4-1) gave up three earned runs and six hits in six innings, and Encino Crespi (10-2, 2-1 in league), ranked No. 2 by The Times, was upset by West Hills Chaminade, 3-0, Tuesday in a Mission League baseball game at Chaminade.

Casey Haerther (2-1) gave up four hits and struck out five in five innings.

Kyle Redding’s single in the fifth inning drove in two runs for the Eagles (7-3-1, 4-1).

Hot-hitting Jamel Wells, who has 21, and L.A. Locke (2-1 in league) play host to L.A. Fremont (7-4, 3-0) in a key Coliseum League game today at 3 p.m.

Fremont defeated Locke, 3-1, Monday, when Curtis Johnson struck out 12 and Antonio Reyes drove in three runs.

Johnson threw a five-inning no-hitter in a 13-0 victory over L.A. Manual Arts on March 24.

Swimming

Thousand Oaks sophomore Vanda Gyuris, the defending Southern Section Division II champion in the 100-yard freestyle, will sit out the Lancers’ nonleague meet today at Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula and a Marmonte League meet Friday against visiting Moorpark.

Gyuris has been suspended by the section for competing as an attached swimmer for Conejo Simi Aquatics in the National Club Swimming Assn. junior national meet March 22-26 at Orlando, Fla.

Boys’ Golf

Riverside Poly broke its 3-year-old school record by 10 strokes with a 164-215 Ivy League victory over Riverside North at Victoria Club in Riverside.

Junior Louis Bergna shot a five-under-par 30, Kendall Jenkins and Mark Waters each shot 32, and Kris Patton and Jason Fair each shot 35 for the Bears (10-1, 2-0). North (4-7, 1-2) posted its best point total of the season.
