Los Angeles Dorsey tightened its hold on the top spot on Friday, when junior Vannie Prudhomme cleared 6 feet 10 inches in the high jump for the second week in a row. Prudhomme, defending state 400-meter champion David Gettis and hurdler Kai Kelley give Dorsey three athletes who would contend for individual titles in a hypothetical meet featuring all of the Southland’s top performers.

Long Beach Poly defeated Long Beach Wilson, 85-51, in its annual Moore League dual meet on Thursday. But Wilson’s loss to the defending state champion wasn’t big enough to drop the Bruins out of the No. 2 spot they have held all season. Things could change if Wilson has a subpar effort in the Moore League finals on Friday and Riverside North performs well in the Ivy League finals on Wednesday.
