Search Continues for Escaped Murder Suspect
Sheriff’s investigators on Tuesday continued their search for a murder suspect who jumped from a moving patrol car transporting him between desert jails.
Steven Matthew Sanchez, 25, of La Quinta, fled from the back seat of the Riverside County sheriff’s vehicle as it traveled in Indio on Monday about 12:20 a.m. Neither the deputies in the car nor Indio police officers and police dogs could find Sanchez.
The 5-foot-9, 150-pound Sanchez has a shaved head and “Mi Madre Cecelia” tattooed on his chest. He is charged with shooting to death Rudy Quevedo, 19, in Coachella on May 18, 2003.
