From Staff Reports

Marlon Lucky of North Hollywood and DeSean Jackson of Long Beach Poly have been selected to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 15 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Lucky is a 6-foot, 205-pound running back who has rushed for 654 yards and 10 touchdowns in 79 carries this season. He’s considered one of the top running back recruits in the nation. Jackson is a speedy 5-11, 170-pound receiver who has 14 receptions for 175 yards and three touchdowns.

They will be joined on the West team by Oxnard Rio Mesa’s Kevin Thomas, a 6-2, 175-pound defensive back, and Los Alamitos’ Jim Barnes, a 6-5, 225-pound quarterback. The speed and coverage ability of Thomas have made him one of the most recruited defensive backs in Southern California and Barnes, who has committed to Alabama, has completed 57 of 85 passes for 766 yards and 11 touchdowns with only two interceptions this season.

Previously selected to the team were wide receiver David Gettis of L.A. Dorsey and quarterback Mark Sanchez of Mission Viejo.

San Juan Capistrano Serra has canceled its varsity football schedule for the remainder of the season and will play only junior varsity and freshman games.

The Lions (0-4) were scheduled to play North Hills L.A. Baptist this week but were forced to cancel because their roster had been depleted by injuries.
