Earthquakes Tie to Remain in Playoff Chase

The San Jose Earthquakes tied the Kansas City Wizards, 0-0, in San Jose on Saturday night, keeping the Earthquakes’ Major League Soccer playoff hopes alive.

San Jose is two points ahead of Dallas with one regular-season game remaining.

San Jose had two good chances late, a Richard Mulrooney shot that Kansas City goalkeeper Bo Oshoniyi almost deflected into his net in the 82nd minute and an Arturo Alvarez cross that Oshoniyi deflected off of San Jose’s Brian Ching and over the goal line in the 85th.

D.C. United 1, New England 0 -- Christian Gomez scored in the 32nd minute to lead D.C. United at home.

Columbus 1, New York/New Jersey 1 -- Jeff Cunningham scored in the first half and the Crew extended its MLS-record unbeaten streak to 17 games, against the MetroStars in East Rutherford, N.J.
