* Clayton Edwards, Simi Valley Royal: Pitched a complete game, striking out nine and giving up seven hits and a walk as the Highlanders, ranked No. 16 by The Times, beat Fountain Valley, 4-1, in the San Luis Obispo tournament’s championship game.
* Casey Vidovich, Placentia El Dorado: Hit a home run and double and drove in three runs in an 11-8 victory over El Cajon Valhalla in the Placentia El Dorado National Classic tournament’s third-place game.
* Chase d’Arneaud, Los Alamitos: Hit a home run, drove in three runs and scored twice as the No. 24 Griffins beat Atherton Menlo School, 6-0, in a Las Vegas Bishop Gorman tournament game.
* Thomas Marcin, Huntington Beach Edison: Struck out eight and gave up two earned runs, two hits and no walks in 6 1/3 innings as the No. 12 Chargers beat La Verne Bonita, 5-3, in a Las Vegas Bishop Gorman tournament game.
* Brandon Aponte, Anaheim Canyon: Pitched six innings and gave up one earned run and three hits as No. 15 Anaheim Canyon beat Orange El Modena, 5-3, in a Century League game.
SOFTBALL
* Sarah Vertelka, Rancho Cucamonga: Struck out 13 and gave up four hits, two walks and an earned run in a 2-1 victory over No. 14 Etiwanda in a Baseline League game.
* Lindsey Ubrun, Riverside Poly: Hit three home runs -- two two-run blasts and a solo shot -- and had six RBIs and four runs scored in a 13-1 victory over Riverside North in an Ivy League game.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
* Anthony Spittle, Redondo: Had 10 kills and 20 assists in leading the Sea Hawks, ranked No. 2 in the Division I coaches poll, over Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula, 25-19, 27-25, 23-25, 25-16, in a Bay League game.
