* Mike Czapski, Lake Forest El Toro: Had two hits, including a home run, and two runs batted in during the Chargers’ 8-5 upset of Capistrano Valley, ranked No. 4 in the Southland by The Times. El Toro has accounted for the Cougars’ two losses this season.
* Eric Mura, Mission Viejo: Scattered four hits over six innings, striking out eight and walking none for the Diablos in a 3-2 victory at No. 18 Trabuco Hills.
* Ryan Jody, North Hollywood Campbell Hall: Hit two doubles and drove in two runs as the Vikings knocked Pasadena Poly from the ranks of the undefeated with a 6-3 victory.

SOFTBALL
* Meghann Muirhead, La Canada Flintridge Sacred Heart: Threw her first perfect game with just 49 pitches -- 36 strikes -- in a five-inning, 11-0 victory over Pasadena Poly for the championship of the Sierra Madre Alverno tournament.
* Brittany Weil, Garden Grove Pacifica: Struck out 34 batters and walked one in 18 innings while throwing a pair of one-hitters at the Woodbridge tournament.
* Jordan Taylor, Valencia: Struck out six in a complete game to help the No. 7 Tigers upset No. 1 Corona, 3-0, handing the Panthers their first loss of the season in the championship semifinals of the Woodbridge tournament.
