Environmental Study on Moving of Runway OKd
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The city Airport Commission on Monday unanimously approved an environmental study for a project that would move the southernmost runway at Los Angeles International Airport 55 feet closer to El Segundo.
The $300-million construction on the south runway complex is considered essential to reduce close calls between aircraft.
Airport officials hope to start work on the project early next year. The Los Angeles City Council still must approve the study.
