From Times Staff Reports

Danny Williams, a three-time All-City basketball player at Los Angeles Fremont, was listed in critical condition at Loma Linda University Medical Center after being involved in an automobile accident north of Barstow on Tuesday.

Williams was driving to Las Vegas with his girlfriend to visit her grandfather when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel, said Rick Isaacs, his club team coach. He was transported to Loma Linda by helicopter after suffering a head injury.

Williams was scheduled to make a recruiting visit to Oklahoma State on Wednesday. Isaacs said Williams was in a semi-comatose state, heavily sedated as doctors try to relieve pressure to his brain.
