A driver on the Garden Grove Freeway was wounded early Tuesday when a bullet fired from a passing car grazed his head, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 24-year-old man was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was listed in serious but stable condition. Two passengers in his car were not injured.

The three men were traveling east on the freeway near Beach Boulevard about 3 a.m. when a dark-colored Honda Accord, carrying at least two people, passed on the right and someone inside began shooting, said Officer Garry Goldenberg.

Five bullets hit the right side of the Mercedes C230. Another bullet went through the windshield and out the driver’s window, hitting the man, who the CHP would not identify, in the head.

The three men were heading home to Ontario after spending the night at Hawaiian Gardens Casino, Goldenberg said. Investigators obtained video from the casino and were looking for any confrontations the men may have been involved in during their time there.

It was the second freeway shooting in Orange County in less than a week. On Friday, a man was shot in the leg on the Orange Freeway.
