Motorist Arrested After Passenger Dies in Crash
A man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and manslaughter after a Garden Grove woman died Sunday in a Costa Mesa collision, police said.
Nacheli Garcia-Torres, 23, was riding in an Acura whose driver apparently ran a red light when he turned from Newport Boulevard onto 17th Street, where another car broadsided it about 6:15 a.m., police said. She died at the scene. Another passenger was taken to a hospital.
Acura driver Jamie Grenado, 21, of Garden Grove was arrested and taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was stable with neck injuries.
