* Derrick Connor, Huntington Beach Brethren Christian: Passed for one score, ran for another and caught a touchdown pass for the Warriors, who opened the season with a 34-12 nonleague victory at Garden Grove Bolsa Grande.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
* Megan Nash and Bridget Hearst, L.A. Notre Dame Academy: Contributed 15 kills each to help the Regals improve to 3-0 with a five-game victory over Long Beach Poly in the quarterfinal round of the Cerritos Gahr tournament.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
* Nathan Endorf, South Pasadena: The goalkeeper’s shot from his own goal with three seconds left in sudden-death overtime became the game-winning goal for the Tigers, who claimed the Bell Gardens tournament title with a 6-5 victory over Cerritos in the championship finals after trailing, 5-4, at halftime.
CROSS-COUNTRY
* Daniel Garza, Chino Don Lugo: Ran the three-mile course at Santa Fe Dam Regional Park in 14:56 to take first place individually and lead the Conquistadores to a third-place finish in the Large School Division of the Bosco Tech Invitational.
