Welcome Back, Bill: Now Get Out of Here

It’s obvious that The Times has no quality control, since they keep printing the rantings and ravings of Bill Plaschke, who is well on his way to being as baseless in his allegations as Ann Coulter. To somehow equate the trading of Paul Lo Duca and the acquisition of Brad Penny as ruining the potential “dominance” of the Dodgers in the Western Division is just laughable.

The 2004 division crown, while exciting and fun, was built upon a series of fortuitous events and especially the tremendous year of Adrian Beltre who, clearly, has reverted to his pumpkin status. Guillermo Mota has not been very effective since he left L.A. and Eric Gagne’s arm injuries have more to do with the internal structure of his body than with the loss of Mota and Lo Duca.

How does Plaschke continue to dismiss the Brad Penny trade despite ever-growing evidence that the Dodgers are reaping the benefits of the deal? After reading his July 12 article, I can’t decide whether he’s being stupid or stubborn about it.

Can’t Bill Plaschke stick to writing heartwarming stories about athletes who overcame bad childhoods? When he writes about the Dodgers, he apparently removes his brain and replaces it with a parrot in his head, squawking the same meaningless rant over and over.
