City contractor dies in fall from bridge
A contractor checking lightbulbs on a city bridge fell 90 feet to his death early Thursday.
The body of Gregory Wolters, 45, was found by deputies about 10 a.m. beneath a section of Santa Margarita Parkway spanning a wash near Alicia Parkway, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Wolters, of Mission Viejo, was declared dead at the scene.
A traffic light coordinator for a company contracted by the city of Rancho Santa Margarita, he had been checking on the condition of the bridge’s lightbulbs, several of which had been vandalized and broken in recent months, according to Jim Amormino, a sheriff’s spokesman.
