L.A. County Deputy Kills a Man in Compton
A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man Thursday afternoon in Compton after he pointed a handgun at the officer and his partner, authorities said.
It was the fourth fatal officer-involved shooting in the Los Angeles area since Sunday.
Authorities identified the victim as Craig Hill, 27, of Compton. The shooting took place shortly after noon near Aranbe Avenue and West Maple Street.
The deputies said Hill fled when he spotted them. They said he later drew a gun from his waistband when confronted by first one deputy and then the second deputy, who shot and killed Hill.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating.
