Police kill man near liquor store
Police shot and killed a man during a confrontation outside a liquor store Monday afternoon.
The shooting occurred just after 2 p.m. in front of the Seven Gold Liquor Store in the 500 block of Whittier Boulevard, near Walnut, said police spokeswoman Cindy Knapp.
She said officers had received a call that the man was near the intersection and carrying a weapon.
Police are withholding the man’s name until his relatives are notified, Knapp said. Before the shooting, officers had been searching for him as part of a vandalism investigation.
The Orange County district attorney’s office is investigating the circumstances of the confrontation and is not releasing details, Knapp said.
