Temecula Chaparral finally got to exhale in the closing moments of a playoff game.

After pulling out its previous three games on the last play, the visiting Pumas were able to savor the final minute of a 13-7 victory over top-seeded Vista Murrieta in the Inland Division title game.

Quarterback Mitch Glasmann pushed ahead for four yards on third and one with little more than a minute remaining and the unseeded Pumas (10-3) ran out the clock to avenge a 32-13 loss to their Southwestern League rival from earlier this season.

“People will stop doubting us now hopefully because we made it,” said Chaparral defensive back Deshawn Hathorn, who broke up a fourth-down pass deep in Pumas territory early in the fourth quarter.

After the teams traded punts, Chaparral got the ball back at its 20-yard line with 5:18 left and picked up three first downs to run out the clock. The biggest play came when Glasmann completed an 18-yard pass to Antoine Arnold on third and 17.

“He said on the sideline that he wanted it,” Glasmann said.

Glasmann ran for two touchdowns and completed 15 of 24 passes for 155 yards and one interception. He sprinted 21 yards up the middle for a touchdown late in the second quarter to give the Pumas a 13-7 lead that held up.

Vista Murrieta (13-1) failed to convert three times on fourth down, including twice in the second half. Quarterback Derrick Brown completed 13 of 29 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown.

La Mirada rolls over Garden Grove

La Mirada (13-1) scored 42 unanswered points to capture the Southern Division title with a 49-27 victory over Garden Grove at Orange Coast College.

The Argonauts (13-1) could not overcome the loss of senior quarterback Sean Young. Garden Grove’s leading passer and rusher left with a game-ending injury after guiding his team to a 21-7 lead with 11:42 remaining in the first half.

La Mirada’s high-powered offense, behind senior running back J.P. Torres, took advantage of the Argonauts’ inability to move the ball the rest of the way. Torres, who opened the game’s scoring with a seven-yard run on the Matadores’ third play from scrimmage, put the game out of reach on a 52-yard rush down the right sideline for his third score and a 42-21 lead with 7:31 left in the game.

Westlake edges Moorpark

Westlake Village Westlake freshman quarterback Justin Moore scored the game-winning touchdown on a four-yard run, which helped secure a 14-10 victory over Moorpark for the Northern Division championship.

Moore filled in for junior quarterback Nick Isham, who missed most of the second half after getting sacked on the first drive of the second half.

Isham, with an ice pack and sling over his left shoulder, said he had a broken collarbone. He completed 10 of 13 for 146 yards with one touchdown and one interception, but it was Moore’s performance that won the game for Westlake (14-0).

Facing fourth and one on the Musketeers’ four-yard line, Moore swept to the outside for the four-yard touchdown run with 41.3 seconds remaining.

The Musketeers (12-2) couldn’t win their first title since 1997 because their offense solely relied on senior tailback Austin Edmonson, who had 30 carries for 171 yards.

Alex Norocea gave the top-seeded Mustangs (12-2) a 24-21 lead with 4:37 left after a 35-yard catch by Kyle Nunn. Morgan Reece rushed 23 times for 94 yards and Rico Wright had 69 yards in 13 carries for Mira Costa, which led, 14-13, at halftime.
