NFL Bottom 10

Share

Well, the NFL playoff picture is a bit clearer now. St. Louis (1-13) has definitely been eliminated.

That leaves about 30 to 40 teams eligible for postseason play, including the top six finishers in the Canadian Football League as well as USC, which has been reclassified by the NCAA as a professional team.

The St. Louis Lambs, meanwhile, are concentrating on holding on to the Bottom Ten lead, nothing new for them. They have lost 40 of their last 46 games.

The No. 7 Redskins have been invited to the Super Bowl to give a halftime reenactment of their famous stunt against the Giants last Monday -- staging a fake field-goal attempt, having the Giants call a timeout then attempting the same fake attempt on the next play.

Elsewhere, No. 5 Chicago (5-9) hosts Minnehaha (11-3), and Vikings Coach Brett Favre hasn’t said whether he’ll start Brett Favre at quarterback.

Wreck (Record); Last Loss; Next Loss

1.St. Louis (1-13); 13-16, Houston; Arizona

2.Detroit (2-12); 24-31, Arizona ;San Francisco

3. Seattle (5-9); 7-24, Tampa Bay ;Green Bay

4.Kansas City (3-11); 34-41, Cleveland ;Cincinnati

5. Chicago (5-9); 7-31, Baltimore; Minnesota

6.Tampa Bay (2-12); 7. Washington (4-9); 8. Cleveland (3-11); 9. San Francisco (6-8); 10. NFC North (0-4 last week).

Rout of the week: Dallas (9-5) over Washington (4-9)

Crummy game of the week: Detroit (2-12) at San Francisco (6-8).

Special citations: Dallas Cowboys kicker Nick Folk was cut this week after missing field-goal attempts in six straight games. Green Bay’s Mason Crosby has botched field-goal attempts from inside the 43-yard-line in four straight games. Is he next to go?

Unclear on the concept: Jets Coach Rex Ryan said Monday his team was “actually in a better situation” to make the playoffs this week than last week. The Jets played (and lost to) Atlanta on Sunday. And the “better situation?” The Jets (7-7) next play the Colts (14-0).

Fantasy flops: Running back Adrian Peterson (Minnesota), 12 carries, 35 yards, one touchdown; Quarterback Jay Cutler (Chicago), 10 of 27 for 94 yards, three interceptions, no touchdowns; Quarterback Brady Quinn (Cleveland), 10 of 17 for 66 yards, two interceptions.
