at No. 19 Penn State 31, Indiana 20: Linebacker Navorro Bowman had a momentum-turning 73-yard interception return for a touchdown, Evan Royster scored twice and the sloppy Nittany Lions overcame four first-half turnovers, including two fumbles on special teams. Bowman’s interception and return gave Penn State its first lead, 17-10 with 6:54 left in the third quarter. Royster finished with 95 yards on 17 carries and 39 yards receiving on four catches.

at No. 21 Wisconsin 45, Michigan 24: Scott Tolzien tied a career high with four touchdown passes and scored on a sneak to lead the Badgers. Tate Forcier was a solid 20 of 26 for 188 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, but it wasn’t enough to spare the Wolverines from their sixth consecutive conference loss.

Michigan State 40, at Purdue 37: Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes, and the Spartans overcame an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to become bowl eligible. Purdue quarterback Joey Elliott completed 39 of 55 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns. Michigan State’s Brett Swenson made four field goals, including the game-winning 21-yarder with 1:51 left.

Northwestern 21, at Illinois 16: Mike Kafka threw for 305 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score and Sherrick McManis made a last-minute interception to preserve the victory.

at Minnesota 16, South Dakota State 13: Eric Ellestad’s 25-yard field goal with 2:22 left lifted the Golden Gophers to an ugly win over the lower-division Jackrabbits (7-3).
