NFL capsule: N.Y. Giants at Denver
N.Y. Giants (6-4) at Denver (6-4)
Time: 5 p.m.
Television: NFL Network.
Line: Giants by 6.5.
Over/Under: 42.
Story line: One of the most respected Denver Broncos, safety Brian Dawkins, called a players-only meeting this week to get the team to regroup. Anything to stop the bleeding of a franchise that has lost four in a row after a 6-0 start. The visiting Giants know the feeling. They started 5-0, then lost four straight before beating Atlanta in overtime last Sunday. So both of these teams are desperate to stay in the hunt in their respective divisions. Key for the Broncos is the health of quarterback Kyle Orton (ankle), who hadn’t practiced in the week leading up to the blowout loss to the Chargers. Orton told reporters this week he’s ready for tonight’s game and, his coach said, should be healthier. As for the Giants, major cracks have formed in their defense -- particularly in the secondary -- and the team is trying to recover after collapsing against San Diego down the stretch, and surrendering 31 points to Atlanta.
Sam Farmer’s pick: Broncos 21, Giants 20.
