Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis is The Times’ girls’ basketball player of the year

Lindsay Sherbert, Temecula Great Oak, 6-1, F, Sr.: The only girl from Southern California selected to the McDonald’s All-American team. California-bound forward averaged 27 points, five rebounds and two steals per game.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, Santa Ana Mater Dei, 6-0, G, Jr.: Considered the top junior player in the nation, she led her team to a Southern Section Division 2A title and state championship, averaging 24 points and eight rebounds per game. She has committed to national champion Connecticut.

Thea Lemberger, Santa Monica, 5-10, G, Sr.: UCLA-bound guard helped her team claim its first Southern Section Division 1A title, averaging 18 points, three assists and four rebounds per game.

Cassie Harberts, San Clemente, 6-3, F, Sr.: USC-bound forward led her team with averages of 27 points and 15 rebounds.

Jordan Adams, Santa Ana Mater Dei, 6-1, G, So.: The nation’s top sophomore averaged 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

Sheila Boykin, Long Beach Poly, 6-0, F, Jr.: Her versatility helped the Jackrabbits win the Southern Section Division 1AA title and make an appearance in the state championships. She averaged 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Bonnie Samuelson, Huntington Beach Edison, 6-3, G, Jr.: Averaged 27 points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Chargers, who made a Southern Section Division 2A semifinal appearance.

Kelsey Harris, Brea Olinda, 5-9, G, Sr.: Iowa State-bound guard averaged 13 points and four rebounds to help her team win the Southern Section Division 2AA title.

Nicole Hung, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, 5-10, F, Sr.: Princeton-bound forward averaged 18 points and nine rebounds to help the Wolverines win the Southern Section Division 4AA title and a state championship.

Alex Sanchez, Fullerton Troy, 5-10, G, Sr.: Despite a slew of injuries, the Long Beach State-bound ball handler averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Player of the year: Mosqueda-Lewis.

Coach of the year: Steve Scifres, Agoura.
