LaMichael James ran for 134 yards, including a 72-yard touchdown, in his first game back after a one-game suspension and No. 7 Oregon scored 45 consecutive points to beat Tennessee, 48-13, on Saturday night.

James had only 27 yards at halftime after being targeted by the Volunteers’ defense for the entire first half. He started picking up momentum after the break, rushing for 25 yards in five carries in the Oregon’s first second-half drive. He broke several tackles on the 72-yard touchdown run on the first play of the subsequent drive for the Ducks (2-0).

Tennessee (1-1) went up 13-3 in the first half, which was delayed an hour by bad weather delay.

California 52, Colorado 7: Kevin Riley threw for 197 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Golden Bears (2-0) to a blowout over their future conference foes at Berkeley.

Colorado (1-1) had negative total yards after nearly 20 minutes, threw three interceptions, lost two fumbles and committed nine penalties on the way to a 13th straight road loss.

Washington 41, Syracuse 20: Jermaine Kearse took a short pass 57 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the second half, one of his career-high three touchdown catches, and the Huskies (1-1) raced to victory.

Kearse grabbed TD receptions of 5, 57 and 28 yards, doing most of the work himself on the final two receptions, to become the first Washington receiver with three touchdown catches in a game since Reggie Williams during the 2002 season. Kearse finished with 179 yards on nine receptions.

Washington State 23, Montana State 22: Nico Grasu’s 18-yard field goal with 2:13 remaining capped a 16-point fourth-quarter comeback as the Cougars (1-1) ended a 10-game losing streak and avoided becoming the third FBS school to lose at home to an FCS team on Saturday.

Arizona 52, The Citadel 6: Nic Grigsby rushed for three touchdowns, including a career-long 62-yard scoring run, and the Wildcats breezed in their home opener.

Nick Foles completed 17 of 22 for passes for 214 yards and one touchdown as the Wildcats (2-0) rolled for 489 yards in a tuneup for next Saturday’s home game against No. 9 Iowa.

Arizona State 41, Northern Arizona 20: Steven Threet passed for 391 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Sun Devils.
