Make-Up and Hair Guild nominates ‘Mad Max,’ ‘Black Mass’ and ‘Star Wars,’ among others

“The Big Short,” “Furious 7,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Youth” are among the feature films nominated Wednesday for the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards. The annual honors recognize outstanding achievements in motion pictures, TV, commercials and live theater.

Outstanding contemporary makeup in a feature motion picture went to the artists of “The Big Short,” “Furious 7,” “Pitch Perfect 2,” “Sicario” and “Youth.”

Vying for contemporary hair styling in a feature motion picture are the stylists of “Ex Machina,” “Furious 7,” “Pitch Perfect 2,” “Spectre” and “Spy.”

Nominees for period and/or character makeup in a feature are the artists of “Brooklyn,” “Carol,” “Cinderella,” “The Danish Girl” and “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

In contention for period and/or character hair styling for a feature are the stylists of “Brooklyn,” “Carol,” “Cinderella,” “The Danish Girl” and “Max Max: Fury Road.”

Special makeup effects in a feature nominees are the artists of “Black Mass,” “Ex Machina,” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 2,” “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Among the TV nominees are “Dancing with the Stars,” “Empire,” “The Walking Dead,” “Game of Thrones,” “Saturday Night Live” and “Scream Queens.”

The winners will be announced Feb. 20 at Paramount Studios.
