Alley Brown scored in the 24th minute for Ventura. Goalkeeper Emily Reynolds had nine saves for Nordhoff.

Nordoff lost three starters with first-half head injuries on collisions. All three were taken to the hospital, and they are all expected to return to play in about a week. Gracie Gartrell and Chelsea Burr both got concussions, and Rebecca Morrison got a cut on her forehead and received 10 stitches.

Nisha Chawla scored the game-winning goal in the 49th minute for Trabuco Hills (5-1), which opened the scoring on Katie Tribbie’s goal in the seventh minute. Marissa Campbell had four saves for Trabuco Hills.

St. Margaret’s (4-1-1) tied the score early in the second half when Jamie Schiffer scored on a feed by Jessica Demorest. Lauren Anjoi had seven saves for St. Margaret’s. Trabuco Hills will play Ayala in the championship game at 6:30 p.m. Monday and St. Margaret’s will take on Irvine University in the third-place game.

Lauren Paz struck a loose ball around the top of the box, scoring the game-winning goal from about 18 yards for visiting Marlborough (2-2, 1-0) with 10 minutes to play.

Notre Dame Academy (3-1, 0-1), which won Southern Section Division VI championship last season, took a 1-0 halftime lead after scoring on a rebound early in the game. Marlborough tied the score in the 55th minute as Kara Segal headed in a cross from Dominique Vellutato.

Oxnard vs. Santa Paula, suspended
Samy Hernandez of Oxnard scored off a restart in the first half, but the game was suspended midway through the second because slippery field conditions made it unsafe to continued. The game was halted by referees when eight players slipped in a massive pile and no one could find the ball in what essentially was a mud bog at Santa Paula’s football field.

“There was a middle strip where there was more water than mud, about 65% sitting water,” said Dave Holmgren, Santa Paula’s coach. “There were five girls who had gone into the center of the top of the box, all fell andwere totally mud-covered, kicking and trying to find the ball. Three more girls cam rushing in and they slid into the pile of bodies. Officials couldn’t see the ball.”

Jessica Godinez scored the Roadrunners’ first goal in the first minute of the game with a free kick. Tustin scored its only goal in the 50th minute, when Melissa Cueva headed in a cross from Cassidy Minko.

Cara Percival scored late in the first half off a cross from Amy Werblin to provide the difference for Sage Hill (5-0) as the Lightning won a tournament championship game for the first time in the school’s five-year history.

Werblin also scored with an assist from Kellee Kim and Ali McLaughlin scored with an assist by Claire Josephson as Sage Hill scored all three of its goals in the first half and led by the final margin at halftime.
