Freshman Stephanie Boshae pitched 15 innings, allowing 12 hits with seven strikeouts, and had a two-run double and freshman Amanda Rivera scored the go-ahead run off a bunt in the 15th inning to lead visiting Sylmar (1-0).

Crystal Romero hit a solo home run in the fifth and was the winning pitcher, throwing six innings and striking out four, to lead host Los Angeles (1-0). Kathia Garcia went three for three with a three-run homer and and RBI double and Lissette Cardenas hit a grand slam in the fourth for Los Angeles.

Andrea Small threw a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts, Spechelle Vickers had a home run and five RBIs and Sammy Cunningham had two hits and scored four runs for Dorsey in the season opener for both teams.
