Authorities have released the names of the two men killed Monday during a daytime shooting in Koreatown.

Los Angeles County coroner’s officials identified the victims as Jonathan Villamizar, 19, and Alexander Veleche, 24, both of Los Angeles. They were shot multiple times in a parking lot driveway at South Normandie Avenue and West 3rd Street just before 2 p.m. after briefly exchanging words with their killers in what police say may have been a gang-related attack.

The gunmen were last seen walking north on Normandie. Police have made no arrests.

Homicide Report: A story for every victim

Villamizar and Veleche were rushed to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Three people were victims of homicide in Koreatown in 2013, down from eight in 2012, according to the Times’ Homicide Report.

However, there has been somewhat of an uptick in violent crimes in the neighborhood, including two robberies in recent weeks within blocks of Monday’s shooting, according to Crime L.A.
