Man sought in alleged kidnapping at mall, robbery, sexual assault

A search continued Tuesday for a man who police say forced a woman into her car at knifepoint, sexually assaulted her and held her hostage for hours.

The victim had just finished work at the Westfield Topanga Mall in Canoga Park and was in the parking lot standing near her car when she was approached by the man, police said.

The crime was reported on July 4 around 5:30 p.m., according to detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery-Homicide Division.

The man brandished a knife and forced the victim into her car, then forced her to drive to locations in the San Fernando Valley, Pasadena and downtown Los Angeles for the next three hours, police said.

The suspect sexually assaulted the woman, stole some of her belongings and used her ATM card to access her bank account, police said.

The suspect was described as 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-8, 140 to 160 pounds, police said.
