A 36-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday in Norwalk, authorities said.
Belen Nieves of Norwalk was walking away from a party about 12:50 a.m. when she was struck by a white Chevrolet Impala near the intersection of Hopland Street and Elaine Avenue, said Lt. Eric Smitson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Nieves was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead, Smitson said.
The driver of the vehicle sped from the scene, Smitson said. Deputies were searching for the driver, described by witnesses as a man in his mid-20s.
