Warm weather in L.A. area ties records, expected to last one more day
Record daily high temperatures were tied or broken Monday from Santa Barbara to Riverside counties as high pressure created unseasonably warm weather that is expected to last one more day, forecasters said.
A high of 82 degrees was reported at Santa Barbara Airport, tying the record set in 1980, the National Weather Service said.
The agency said Los Angeles International Airport reached 85 degrees, which tied the record for the day set in 1980.
San Gabriel, which hit 89 degrees, reported the warmest temperature in the nation, the weather service said. It was 85 in downtown Los Angeles, 82 at the Santa Monica Pier and 84 in Redondo Beach.
In Riverside County, Lake Elsinore topped out at 88 degrees, breaking by one degree the record set in 1980.
The high pressure was creating warm offshore winds that were expected to continue on Tuesday.
Cooler ocean breezes are expected on Wednesday with a slight chance of showers in Los Angeles County mountain area Wednesday night, according to the weather service.
