SUV crashes through roof of garage in Escondido
A sport utility vehicle crashed through the roof of a residential garage in Escondido early Wednesday, damaging two vehicles inside, police said.
The driver of the BMW X5 fled before police arrived. The homeowners were asleep when the incident occurred shortly after midnight and were not injured.
“They woke up to find a third car in their garage,” said Lt. Eric Skaja.
The incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run. Homes in the neighborhood have driveways that lead downward from a street above.
