DUI checkpoint nets multiple arrests
Laguna Beach police arrested six people at a DUI checkpoint Saturday for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Officers also arrested one driver on suspicion of transporting, selling or possessing illegal drugs, and either cited or arrested seven motorists for operating cars without a licenses or driving with suspended licenses, according to a news release.
The checkpoint took place at North Coast Highway and Irvine Cove Drive.
The six DUI-related arrests matched the number resulting from a similar checkpoint in May, police Sgt. Tim Kleiser wrote in an email.
