Football: ECR’s Julian Rochelin is picking up offers as a defensive end
Julian Rochelin had been known as basketball player at Woodland Hills El Camino Real. He decided to play football for the first time two weeks before his senior season began, and now college football recruiters have become intrigued.
The 6-foot-6, 225-pound Rochelin has picked up scholarship offers from Boise State and San Diego State and recruiters from Michigan State and USC are interested.
“He was off the radar for the longest time,” Coach Kevin Williams said.
El Camino Real coaches taught him the basic fundamentals this season, how to rush the quarterback, how to use his hands, how to put on his shouler pads. He must have adjusted pretty quick, because he was the defensive player of the year in the West Valley League.
“His physical ability took over,” Williams said.
Rochelin continues to play for the basketball team, expected to challenge Westchester for a City championship. But his college future appears to be in football.
