Baseball: Crespi rallies in the seventh to defeat Simi Valley

Crespi scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 5-4 victory over Simi Valley on Thursday.

Armett Johnson had two hits and three RBIs. Matt Cassin and Chasen Gensvrowsky each added two hits for the Celts. Matt Orozco had a key pinch-hit double in the seventh.

No. 1 Huntington Beach opened with a 7-2 win over Foothill. Noah Davis threw five shutout innings. Palm Desert knocked off JSerra, 4-3.

Orange Lutheran defeated Capistrano Valley, 2-1, in eight innings. Garett King didn’t walk a batter in an impressive pitching effort.

Keston Hiura hit for the cycle with five RBIs in Valencia’s 21-0 win over Palmdale. Dos Pueblos defeated Calabasas, 7-5. Canyon defeated Eastside, 15-2. Justin Stark threw a three-hitter and had a single and double.

Danny Gelalich had three hits and Joe Willard struck out seven and allowed one hit in Bonita’s 3-2 win over Elsinore.

Glendora (3-0) moved into the semifinals of the Don Lugo tournament with an 8-6 win over Ayala. Ryan Beyer threw five shutout innings and D.J. Peters had three RBIs.

Charlie Vorsheck threw a three-hitter with seven strikeouts in Mater Dei’s 2-1 win over Bishop Amat. Andrew Eppenbach was the loser, giving up two unearned runs in the sixth. Freshman Brandon Godoy had two hits for Bishop Amat.

Michael Vokulich threw a four-hitter, striking out two and walking one, in Harvard-Westlake’s 3-1 win over Birmingham. Jacob Pardo had two hits.

Josh Goldberg pitched Long Beach Wilson past San Clemente, 4-1. Chris Bettis had two hits and two RBIs. Villa Park defeated Servite, 5-4.

J.T. McLellen had two hits and two RBIs and Coltin Gerhart had two hits in Vista Murrieta’s 8-2 win over Tustin. Jack Moberg threw four shutout innings.

Chatsworth defeated Lancaster, 13-6. Riley Conlan hit a home run and Garret Kueber had three RBIs. Sylmar defeated Campbell Hall, 8-0. Mark Razo threw a two-hitter and Jose Holguin hit a two-run home run.

Granada Hills defeated Highland, 8-5. JB Garcia, Michael Scolaro and Austin Dudley each had three hits.

Moorpark defeated Oak Park, 6-2. Chase Frederick struck out seven. Blake Chiaramonte went three for three with two doubles. Culver City defeated San Fernando, 3-1.

Alemany defeated Rio Mesa, 7-3, scoring four runs in the seventh. Demetri Pagalidis had a two-run single in the seventh. Chaminade defeated Oaks Christian, 4-0. David Gaydos threw 5 1/3 innings, striking out four. Charlie Dorman had two RBIs.

Saugus defeated Burroughs, 7-0, on a three-hitter by junior Chase Wheatcroft, who struck out six.

A.J. West threw a one-hitter for 6 1/3 innings and Jake Spurlin had the tie-breaking RBI single in the seventh to give West Ranch a 2-1 win over Westlake.

Newbury Park defeated El Camino Real, 5-4. Zander Clarke hit a home run for the Panthers and Landon Nealon got the save. Eric Yang had two hits for El Camino Real. Agoura defeated Camarillo, 7-6.

Loyola defeated Burbank, 15-3. Nick Sablock had a two-run home run and four RBIs. Angelo Armenta went three for three.

Felix Rubi struck out nine and allowed one hit to lead Granada Kennedy past Paraclete, 1-0.

Sophomore Kevin Gowdy scattered six hits, walked one and struck out eight in Santa Barbara’s 7-1 win over Arroyo Grande.

Riverside North defeated La Quinta, 2-1, on a walk-off single by A.J. Jurado in the ninth inning. Austin Pritchard went the distance on the mound for North.

Sierra Canyon (3-0) defeated Monroe, 8-0. Freshman Seth Stone threw a two-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking none. Jake Patterson had two hits.

Royal (3-0) defeated Nordhoff, 11-2. Bryce Moore struck out seven in five innings. Verdugo Hills defeated Marshall, 7-0, on a one-hitter by Mauricio Mena.

Hart and Poly had to settle for a 1-1 tie after eight innings because of darkness. Junior Isaac Gutierrez threw impressively for seven innings for the Parrots, who tied the game with a run in the seventh. Junior Jack Ralston struck out eight in seventh innings for Hart.

Village Christian (3-0) defeated Cleveland, 3-2. Chris Davidson had a two-run double and picked up the save in relief.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Arleta, 12-0. Chris Collins allowed one hit in five innings. Tyler Noe had two doubles in Heritage Christian’s 5-3 win over San Marino.

Manny Armendariz pitched Northview past Crescenta Valley, 5-0.
