Andrew Cox of Fairfax is recipient of CIF Spirit of Sport Award
Andrew Cox of Fairfax, a three-sport athlete, is the boys’ recipient of the CIF Spirit of Sport Award for the fall of the 2018-19 school year.
The award honors students who demonstrate what the California Interscholastic Federation calls the 16 principles of “pursuing victory with honor.”
Cox has played football, basketball and run track.
“Andrew is fiercely competitive but also has a class and demeanor about himself that you generally don’t see in kids his age,” said Juan Solorio, assistant coach and special education teacher at Fairfax High School.
“When it comes to personal mastery,” Solorio added, “he cherishes every opportunity to master his craft. Andrew exemplifies leadership and takes a genuine interest in the lives of his teammates; he’s always engaged with them on and off the field.”
